Discipline towards Productivity

Finally all the domain name issues are solved and successfully moved away from registerfly, now it is time to focus back to my personal productivity. Lately I had been spending too much time reading blogs and forum, too many had too many distraction to my life and wasn’t making any good progress on my projects.

I begin to analyse the situation based on the past few days and concluded that I need more self discipline. One of the root causes is that I did not get enough sleep daily, which directly affects my working efficiency. Second is that I did not specify a proper daily todo list and things goes out of sync, result in spending 20% of my working time to sort out tasks.

To maximize the working efficiently, I need to:

  1. Be and early riser, spent minimal time slumbering – Sleep early!
  2. Start a day knowing what to be done – Prepare a todo list!
  3. Keeping on schedule – Review performance and plan’s tomorrow task before going to bed!

I had been hanging around till late night for many years, and I had decided to stop to change some of my life style. I want to get up early, start my work as soon as I got my breakfast, extending my working hour from 8 to 12 hours a day!

Starting early doesn’t means being productive early, every morning I spent 45 minutes read my RSS feeds for daily news, and I had been suggested to swap the rss task to the end of the day while utilizing the time to recall what has to be done by that single day! Good to have a practice that take advantage on morning freshness!

While before going to bed, I will review stuff that went wrong today, prepare a new todo list for tomorrow. Be sure I ask my self ‘Why It Happened’ on every single problem, and of course solve it, try not to repeat the same mistakes!

Hopefully these three techniques will increase my productivity! Currently I have 3 active projects to work with, and about 7 lower priority projects are waiting for me. Initial schedule shows that I can only finish all of it by November 2008, let’s see is it possible to cut the timeline down to half!

Good night!
